Arc'teryx Aerios 25
#4 — Best Conventional Pack

Arc'teryx Aerios 25 Review (2026)

The best traditional-style day pack you can try on in a store

★★★★☆
8.5/10
Reviewed by William • Updated April 2026$180

The Arc'teryx Aerios 25 is not the best value per ounce in this category. At 26oz it is almost twice the weight of the Gossamer G4-20. But the carry comfort is exceptional — the suspension is genuinely better than the ultralight options under heavier loads. If you are new to hiking gear, being able to walk into a store and try this on your back is a real advantage. Arc'teryx builds things to last and the quality shows.

Field Notes

Ran a back-to-back comparison on the same trail I had done with the G4-20 the previous week. The Arc'teryx suspension is noticeably more comfortable under a 20 lb load. With a 12 lb day hike load, the difference mostly disappears. If you regularly carry heavier or go longer, this closes the gap.

Who This Is For

The Arc'teryx Aerios 25 ranks #4 of 4 in this category and is a worthwhile option for the right buyer. It is well-suited for hikers and campers who want Arc'teryx makes extremely well-built gear. The Aerios 25 is heavier than the ultralight options above but has the most comfortable suspension in this roundup and is available at most major outdoor retailers, and it performs best when used for the purpose it was designed around.

I review gear the way most people actually use it — weekend trips in the mid-Atlantic, day hikes on the AT, car camping in the Smokies and down at the Outer Banks. Not expedition use, not extreme conditions. Normal outdoor life for normal people, and occasionally with kids along who provide their own kind of honest product feedback.

Common Questions

Why does it rank #4 if carry comfort is best?
Ranked on overall value and score. A heavier pack with a limited warranty scores lower than lighter options with lifetime coverage, even with high build quality.
Is it worth it over an Osprey?
For most hikers, yes. Arc'teryx materials and construction are better.
Good return policy?
Most Arc'teryx retailers have solid return windows and their own stores offer good service.
