The Zpacks Nero is for hikers who have gone light and want to go lighter. At 6.6oz it weighs less than most water bottles. The DCF fabric is pound-for-pound stronger than aluminum and highly water-resistant. The tradeoff is that this is a frameless pack, so if you load 20-plus pounds it will feel soft. For day hikes where you are carrying 10-14 lbs it is wonderful. Zpacks is a small Florida operation that builds every pack to order and stands behind them for 10 years.

Used on morning hikes out of a campsite at Jordan Lake, NC — mostly 5-8 miles with light loads. Perfect in that context. Also tried it on a longer 12-mile day with a full camera kit and extra layers, and it started to feel shapeless past the halfway point. Know what you are buying it for.
