Which Osprey Pack Should You Buy? (2026) — Full Lineup Compared

The Osprey lineup compared across four packs for different use cases — so you buy the right one instead of the most popular one.

By William • Updated May 2026

Osprey makes excellent packs across the entire size range, but 'get an Osprey' is not specific enough. The Atmos AG 65 (overnight sections) and the Exos 58 (lighter overnight) are the two AT-relevant choices. The Stratos 36 is the right day-to-overnight pack. The Daylite Plus is the right day hiking pack.

Detailed breakdown

For multi-day AT sections: Osprey Atmos AG 65 — $270

The Anti-Gravity suspended mesh is the most ventilated back panel in the Osprey line and the best for loaded overnight packs (25-40 pounds). All Mighty Guarantee. Torso-adjustable fit. Right for anyone packing 3+ days of food and full camping gear on AT sections.

For ultralight overnight: Osprey Exos 58 — $250

The Exos uses a lighter suspended mesh frame — excellent ventilation, comfortable to about 30 pounds. At 2 lb 10oz versus the Atmos's 4 lb 10oz, it saves 2 pounds of pack weight. Right for hikers with sub-15lb base weights who need less structure and still want Osprey's ventilation.

For day-to-overnight: Osprey Stratos 36 — $175

36L covers a full day hike with everything needed, or a one-night trip with a very lean kit. The AirSpeed mesh back panel is ventilated. The right pack for hikers who want one pack that handles day hikes and occasional overnights without separate day pack and overnight pack.

For day hiking: Osprey Daylite Plus — $90

20L, 11oz, $90. The correct Osprey for day hiking. Carries snacks, a rain layer, water, and a first aid kit without the bulk of an overnight pack. Used our Daylite Plus review as the entry point for the backpacks category.
