Liquid IV Hydration Multiplier
#3 — Best for Recovery

Liquid IV Hydration Multiplier Review (2026)

500mg sodium, available at Costco, rapid recovery — best for after the hike rather than during it

★★★★★
8.6/10
Reviewed by William • Updated May 2026 $25

Liquid IV is the recovery electrolyte — higher sodium (500mg), more sugar (11g), and more calories than a hiking electrolyte needs. This profile makes it better for post-hike recovery and genuine dehydration situations than sustained trail hydration. If you come off the trail significantly dehydrated, one Liquid IV packet in 16oz resolves symptoms rapidly. During hiking, the higher sugar makes it less ideal than Nuun or Skratch.

Field Notes

Used as recovery after a difficult 16-mile Smokies day. Headache at mile 14 resolved within 30 minutes at camp. For active hiking use I prefer Nuun's lower sugar. Liquid IV now stays in my car — post-hike recovery tool, not trail electrolyte.

500mg sodium, widely available — the recovery drink that resolves the post-hike headache quickly

Who This Is For
