Jetboil Coffee Press Kit
#4 — Best for Jetboil Owners

Jetboil Coffee Press Kit Review (2026)

1.8oz, $25, brew in your Jetboil cup — the coffee upgrade for hikers already in the Jetboil ecosystem

Reviewed by William • May 2026$25

If you already carry a Jetboil, the Coffee Press Kit is a $25 accessory that turns your cooking system into a French press with no additional vessel. Boil water in your Jetboil cup, add coffee, insert the plunger, steep 3 minutes, press — done. At 1.8oz the accessory adds minimal weight to an existing system. Coffee quality is French-press style, equivalent to the MSR MugMate. This is not a reason to buy a Jetboil, but if you have one, it is a worthwhile upgrade.

Field Notes

Used with a Jetboil Flash on a solo Virginia AT overnight. Boil water in the Jetboil, add 2 tablespoons pre-ground coffee, wait 3 minutes, press slowly, drink from the same cup. Total additional time versus boiling only: 4 minutes. Coffee was good — better than instant, French-press body, some sediment.

1.8oz, $25, turns your Jetboil into a French press — the obvious accessory for Jetboil owners

Who This Is For

The Jetboil Coffee Press Kit is right for: Jetboil owners who want camp coffee without adding a separate brewer, hikers who already use a Jetboil Flash or MiniMo and want any improvement over instant coffee.

Common Questions

Which Jetboil cups is the Coffee Press compatible with?
The Coffee Press Kit is compatible with all Jetboil cups using the FluxRing design: Flash (1L), MiniMo (1L), Sumo (1.8L), Zip (0.8L), and the Joule and Summit Skillet. It is not compatible with non-FluxRing cups or pots from other brands.
Can I use any ground coffee with the Jetboil Press?
Yes — medium-coarse grind is ideal for French press brewing. Avoid fine espresso grind (passes through the mesh) and very coarse grind (weaker extraction). Standard drip-grind coffee from a grocery store is appropriate.
Does the Jetboil Coffee Press replace the MugMate?
The Jetboil Press (1.8oz, $25) and MSR MugMate (0.7oz, $20) are similar in concept — both are French-press style filters. The MugMate works with any mug; the Jetboil Press only works with Jetboil cups. For Jetboil owners, either works; for everyone else, the MugMate is more versatile.
How do you clean the Jetboil Coffee Press?
Remove the plunger, shake grounds into a waste bag (pack out in Leave No Trace areas), rinse the mesh with water. Do not use soap inside the Jetboil cup — it is difficult to fully rinse and will affect future coffee flavor.
