Field Notes
Compared directly against the Osprey Atmos AG 65 on a 3-day Virginia AT section carrying 34 pounds. The hip belt pivot was noticeable on long ascents where a standard hip belt tends to dig in during stride. On hot days, the contact back panel was noticeably warmer than the Osprey's mesh. The Baltoro is the right pack for its specific use case — heavy loads, diverse body types, serious load transfer.
Who This Is For
The Gregory Baltoro 65 is right for: hikers carrying 35-50 pound loads, people with wider or atypical hip builds who find standard hip belts uncomfortable, and anyone who has tried multiple packs and found them poorly fitted.
