These are camp gloves in the truest sense: heavy waxed cowhide, a waterproof insert, and enough insulation for cold work without being a mountaineering product. Splitting kindling, handling a wet fire ring, digging a cathole in frozen ground, hauling a cooler — they handle all of it and shrug off abrasion that would end a technical glove. They are too stiff and too warm for hiking, and the wax needs reapplication, but as a car camping and chore glove they are excellent.
