The Distance 22 puts a running vest harness on a pack with genuine day hike capacity. The front pockets hold bottles, snacks, a phone, and gloves within reach, which eliminates most of the reasons you stop and take a pack off. The vest harness distributes load across the chest rather than hanging it from the shoulders, and it does not sway. At $190 it is expensive, and the vest fit is polarizing — people either find it liberating or find it constricting across the chest.
