Bottom line: The Delica 4 is one of the best value knives made and the Para 3 is meaningfully better in every structural way — stronger lock, thicker stock, more secure grip. If you want a light, slim, cheap knife that cuts extremely well, Delica. If you want a knife you can lean on, Para 3.

Is the Delica 4 still worth buying?
Yes. It has been in production for decades because the geometry is excellent. It is thinner behind the edge than most knives at any price.
Why is the compression lock considered safer?
Closing a back lock puts a finger in the path of the blade. The compression lock is released from the spine side, so your fingers are never in the way.
Is S45VN much better than VG-10?
On edge retention, meaningfully yes. On ease of sharpening, VG-10 is far friendlier — it takes an edge on almost anything.
