Victorinox SwissChamp
#26 — Best Maximum-Tool Swiss Army Knife

Victorinox SwissChamp Review (2026)

Thirty-three functions, and you will genuinely use about nine of them

★★★★★
8.5/10
Reviewed by William • Updated August 2026 $110

The SwissChamp is the maximalist Swiss Army knife: 33 functions across several layers, including pliers, a wood saw, a magnifying glass, a fish scaler, and a pressurized ballpoint pen. Build quality is the usual Victorinox standard, which is very high. The honest assessment is that most people use nine or ten of the functions and carry the rest as weight and thickness — at 6.5oz and roughly 1.3 inches thick, it is a chunky object in a pocket. For a basecamp or glovebox tool, that trade is fine.

  • Victorinox build quality and lifetime warranty
  • No bits or accessories to lose
  • Excellent scissors and saw
  • Genuinely useful magnifier for splinters and tick removal

Limitations

  • Pliers are weak compared to a real multi-tool

What Sets It Apart

The magnifier is the surprise. Removing a tick or a splinter properly needs magnification, and in a mid-Atlantic summer that comes up more often than the saw does. It is the sort of tool nobody buys the knife for and everybody is glad to have at the picnic table.

Common Questions

SwissChamp or Huntsman?
The Huntsman covers the commonly used functions at half the price, weight, and thickness. The SwissChamp is for people who want everything available.
Are the pliers any good?
They are adequate for small tasks and far weaker than a Leatherman's. Do not buy this expecting real plier capability.
