Timex Ironman Classic 30 Review (2026)

Thirty laps, a proper alarm set, and Indiglo, at 1.2 ounces

The Ironman is the digital counterpart to the Expedition Scout: cheap, light, and focused on timing. Thirty-lap memory is more than most hikers need and useful for anyone doing intervals, and the multiple independent alarms are genuinely handy for medication reminders, turnaround times, and alpine starts. Indiglo carries over from the analog range. It is plastic, it is unremarkable, and at 1.2oz and $50 it does not need to be more.

What Sets It Apart

Turnaround alarms are an underused safety tool. Setting an alarm for the time you must start heading back, regardless of whether you reached the objective, prevents a large share of the situations that end in a headlamp descent. Multiple independent alarms make that easy to combine with other reminders.

Common Questions

Ironman or F-91W?
The F-91W is lighter and cheaper; the Ironman adds real water resistance, better lap memory, and multiple alarms.
Is 100m water resistance real?
For swimming and heavy rain, yes. It is a genuine seal rather than a splash rating.
