The SCHF9 is bought by the pound. A 6.4in 1095 blade with a quarter-inch spine and full tang for $50 is an unusual amount of steel at the price, and it handles batoning and chopping that would worry lighter knives. The costs are real: it weighs over a pound, the grind is thick and inefficient so it slices poorly, the factory edge is mediocre, and the finish is rough. As a truck or basecamp knife where weight does not matter and abuse is likely, it is hard to beat at the price.
