Morakniv's reputation was built on partial-tang knives that are excellent and technically not built for batoning. The Garberg is the answer: a full-tang blade with a 3.2mm spine, a square spine edge that throws sparks off a ferro rod, and the Scandi grind that makes Moras so easy to sharpen in the field. It splits kindling without complaint and takes a shaving edge with a few passes on a stone. At $110 it costs five times the Companion and buys durability the Companion does not claim.
