If you own one fixed blade for camping, this is the size to own. At 4.5 inches the ESEE 4 is long enough to baton kindling and split small rounds, short enough for food prep and detail work, and thick enough at 0.19in to abuse without worry. The 1095 carbon steel is tough rather than merely hard, which means it rolls instead of chipping when it meets a knot. Same unconditional warranty as the Izula: break it and they replace it, no questions.
